Our Story
Some tools are built for profit. ALIS was built for purpose.
The Founder
Founder & Principal Architect
I've spent more than two decades building technology solutions across industries — from enterprise infrastructure to education platforms to organizational management systems. Early in that career, I kept running into the same problem at the advocacy and legal organizations I worked with: they were doing extraordinarily important work, but their intake processes were held together with spreadsheets and hope.
The available tools were built for collecting survey responses — not managing the complex, time-critical cases that advocacy organizations deal with daily. When someone contacts a civil rights organization, they're often in crisis. When they fill out an intake form, that form shouldn't be the last thing the organization's system does. It should be the first thing in a managed process that follows through to resolution.
So I built ALIS. Not as a startup play or exit strategy — but because the organizations doing this work deserved a proper tool. I began building ALIS in 2014, and by 2015 it was live with our first affiliate — the ACLU of Nevada. Since then, ALIS has grown to 25+ affiliate installations entirely through word of mouth. Every client came through a referral from another organization that had seen what ALIS could do.
That's the proof I'm most proud of.
What Drives Us
ALIS is not backed by venture capital. There is no board of directors pressuring for growth at the expense of the organizations we serve. There is no exit strategy. There is just a commitment to building something that makes organizations more effective at doing real good.
When you reach out to ALIS, you reach someone who actually uses and works on the platform every day. No support ticket triage. No offshore helpdesk. Real accountability from the people responsible.
The organizations ALIS serves are fighting for civil rights, equal access to justice, and community empowerment. That's not just our customer profile — it's why we built this in the first place.
ALIS grows when its clients refer it to other organizations — because it works. We'd rather have 50 clients who rely on ALIS every day than 500 who barely use it and don't renew.
How We Got Here
The Problem Identified
After years of watching advocacy organizations struggle with intake management — losing cases, missing follow-ups, and failing audits — the need for a purpose-built solution became undeniable.
ALIS v1.0 Built & Deployed
The first version of ALIS was developed and deployed to the ACLU of Nevada — a partnership that became the template for everything that followed.
Word of Mouth Growth Begins
100% word of mouth. Organizations that found ALIS transformative told others. The network grew entirely through referrals — one organization recommending it to the next.
25+ Affiliate Installations
ALIS now powers intake management across 25+ affiliate installations — from single-office organizations to multi-chapter networks — all without a single paid marketing effort.
Platform Modernization Complete
A complete UI/UX overhaul brought ALIS into the modern era — mobile-first, accessible, and professional enough to match the organizations it serves.
Today — Scaling Intentionally
With this marketing site, ALIS is opening its doors to the broader market of advocacy organizations, legal aid societies, and civil rights nonprofits — while staying true to the mission-driven foundation that made it worth building.
